Tips on What to Do with Your Used Agricultural Equipment
If you are a farmer you might go for some upgrade when your tractor is old or when you see a more efficient planter. Sure the used agricultural equipment will be trashed but did you know that they can be another man’s treasure? So what do you to make used agricultural equipment a good find for other people?
Here are some helpful tips:
• Pimp Your Equipment- No one will fall in love with a rusty tractor displayed for sale. The chances of selling an old, dirty-looking, function doubtful equipment is very bleak. No you don’t have to put new mags, xenon bulbs, or anything like that. All you have to do is do some sanding, apply some primer, and coat it with some paint. Believe it or not, it will look great after that.
• Advertise- You can find a lot of potential buyers by going to forums, ad sites, or farming websites. You can use the free classifieds to reach a wider population of your market. You can also compare prizes and see if you are doing it right. Another option is to run an ad on your local paper. You can also make flyers and placed them on high foot traffic places like coffee shops, gas stations, marketplace, groceries, or anywhere it can be seen by a lot of people.
• Donate or Trade- if you are not sure to sell your old equipment then maybe you can find other ways to make good use of it. One choice is to donate it to cooperatives or organizations that might need it. Universities, local farmers, or non government organizations might still find your used agricultural equipment very useful. You can also look for other farmers who might find a good use of your farming tool in exchange of something that they have.
• Scrap it- if the engine is beyond repair or will cost you a fortune to get it running again, then you are left with no choice but to get rid of it. Don’t just send it to the junk yard, make good use of it by selling all the metal parts. It may just be a few cents per pound but in the end it will still be a good sum
Your used agricultural equipment is still worth something no matter what. It just takes a little effort when you resell them so others can still use them in their own fields. Just try to advertise well using the right venues and for sure someone will have their eyes on your old but still reliable farming equipment. GP
